Project summary and goal

Monitoring of low voltage motors

The project aims to conduct in-depth technical research. We want to create modern remote monitoring, protection and control systems. These exclusively target reliable low-voltage electric motors. The motors serve complex equipment integrated into various technological lines. The lines targeted are those of medium and high complexity in industry.

The purpose of developing the wireless system

  • Significant reduction in maintenance and current operating costs.
  • Reducing accidental downtime of technological equipment.
  • Major reduction of technological losses on the production line.
  • Reduction of specific energy consumption through strictly optimized operation.
  • Remote monitoring of functional parameters for engines and machinery.

Major objectives and implementation conditions

Three fundamental directions

  • Integrating the monitoring system with vital protection functions.
  • Ensuring remote control through secure radio data transmissions.
  • Implementation of expert system techniques based on Fuzzy logic.
  • Optimizing decisions in order to achieve desired performance criteria.
  • Creation of a distributed system for supervising the operation of drive motors.

Technical support and secondary objectives

The achievement of the proposed objectives is strongly supported by the scientific competence of the team. The project director and the coordinated members guarantee the quality of the results. ICMET Craiova has extensive experience in monitoring electrotechnical equipment. The long-term collaboration between partners ensures the implementation of the necessary coherent technical-scientific conditions.

The implementation plan includes very logically chosen stages and activities. The design and implementation of the functional model follows, followed by the prototype. Laboratory tests are carried out and in severe industrial conditions. The secondary objective is to increase the operational safety of electrical consumers. In this way, we promote the transfer of technological knowledge between all partners involved.

Activity: Documentation development and creation of an experimental model of a smart relay.

Stage IV

Activity: Creation of an experimental model of a remote monitoring and control system.

Activity: Technical experiments on the completed model.
