Main objectives and proposed innovations
The main objective is to massively increase the energy efficiency of hydropower generators. Hydropower is undoubtedly the world's most important source of clean energy. The project practically and directly supports the principle of ecological sustainable development.
The aim is to optimize the complex structure of the stator windings. The twisted bars made of elementary conductors are directly targeted. In this way, we minimize additional energy losses in the stator winding of the devices.
Strategic objectives and modeling
- We are developing an innovative method for optimizing the structure of bars.
- We study the performance of Roebel-type systems in industry.
- These are essential when designing the windings of huge synchronous generators.
- We are developing a computer program for thermal calculation and optimization.
- We are making a useful experimental model with the Roebel bar at 1:1 scale.
- We thus validate the calculation expressions used in the new mathematical algorithm.

Technical impact in the Romanian energy sector
Romania's hydropower tradition
The project's theme is part of a strategic priority area for Europe. Romania was the only country in Southeastern Europe with such potential. We designed and built hydrogen generators in a completely unique design.
The Resita Machine Building Plant is the traditional Romanian manufacturer of tradition. This plant has manufactured almost all the hydrogenerators existing in the country today.
Rehabilitation of domestic hydroelectric power plants
We have 124 large hydropower plants and over 223 micro-hydropower plants in operation. Many of them are now entering a broad technical rehabilitation process. Designers will have to reanalyze the old, worn-out hydrogenerators in the system.
We apply modern technological methods to save these colossal machines. The project ensures direct technological transfer to heavy equipment manufacturers. We guarantee an increase in the national yield in the production of purely ecological electricity.
