Main objectives and research activities

Innovation and interdisciplinary research

The main objective is to identify the specific links of a completely interdisciplinary field. These allow the intelligent takeover of cutting-edge technological achievements. We draw inspiration from various technical sectors to increase the level of equipment. We reduce huge energy consumption and protect the environment. The project carries out frontier research in the areas of the FP7 Program.

Strategic applicative activities

  • We are developing new concepts regarding the mechanism of internal tension production.
  • We develop destructive and non-destructive methods for evaluating internal stresses.
  • We create functional models for the ecological vibration stress relief installation.
  • We are developing a center of excellence for international collaboration and research.
  • We train young graduates in the Master's degree in Machine Safety and Integrity.
  • We are integrating the project into the European technological platform dedicated to steel resources.

Implementation scheme and results of the stages

Stage I (Year 2006)

Activity: Concepts and theories regarding the mechanism of internal stress reduction in steel structures.
Period: 20.07.2006 – 05.12.2006

Stage II (Year 2007)

Activity: Functional model execution documentation and specialized technical software development.
Period: 06.12.2006 – 20.04.2007
Value: 85,000 lei

Stage III (Year 2007)

Activity: Creation of physical functional models and experimentation on specialized software created.
Period: 21.04.2007 – 20.09.2007
Value: 446,500 lei

Stage IV (Year 2008)

Activity: Detailed experiments, comparative studies and demonstration of equipment functionality.
Period: 21.09.2007 – 20.09.2008
Value: 811,000 lei

Major technical and ecological impact

Economic and environmental advantages

The huge technical impact of the project is generated by the alignment with European requirements. We perfectly meet the needs of the technological platform PT23 – Industrial Steel. Excellent direct benefits are obtained both for the ICMET supplier and for the users. Our microproduction department will execute and homologate the newly created prototype.

The project has a fundamental and direct contribution to environmental conservation. We are replacing the outdated thermal stress relief technology. This was extremely energy-consuming and highly polluting. The new ecological vibration method completely eliminates polluting smoke emissions. We are considerably improving the working conditions and safety of workers in the sections.

Beneficiaries and sustainable development

The potential users of the technology are the major manufacturers in the metallurgical industry. The factories of welded assemblies, casts and heavy forged parts are directly targeted. The national distribution of our partnership creates the premises for increasing the number of favored economic agents. We create real opportunities for education, technology transfer and new secure jobs. We attract and retain valuable young people in local research.
