This product development department models prototypes represents the essential link between theoretical research and practical applicability, ensuring ICMET's ability to physically produce unique equipment, experimental models and small series of products (microproduction) at high quality standards.

Role within the Institute
The Product Development, Models and Prototypes Section has the strategic role of translating into reality the innovative technical solutions developed by the institute's research departments. Here, engineering sketches and projects become tangible products, ready for testing and approval.
The section's activity covers the entire spectrum from the manufacture of complex mechanical components to the final assembly of electrotechnical equipment, ensuring the logistical support necessary for the experimental validation of new technologies in the energy field.
Areas of Activity and Competencies
1. Microproduction and Prototyping
The department has the necessary flexibility to produce a wide range of products, quickly adapting to the specific requirements of each research project:
- Execution of functional prototypes for checking the designed parameters;
- The achievement of experimental models for test stands;
- The manufacture of small series (zero series) for equipment that has passed the approval phase;
- Construction of mechanical elements and customized metal structures for high voltage installations.
2. Processing and Assemblies
The section's workshops are equipped to cover various technological processes necessary in the electrical industry:
- Mechanical processing: turning, milling, drilling and grinding for precision parts;
- Locksmithing and welding: making chassis, transformer tanks and supporting structures;
- Winding and electrical installation: execution of coils for transformers and special motors, as well as wiring of control panels;
- Finishing and painting: anti-corrosion protection of equipment intended to operate in harsh conditions.
Integration into the Research Flow
The Product Development, Models, Prototypes Department collaborates closely with the Testing Laboratories and the Research and Development Departments. This synergy allows for rapid adjustment of projects based on the results of preliminary tests, ensuring a short cycle from idea to finished product.
Through its activity, the department directly contributes to technological transfer to the economic environment, delivering innovative, verified and market-ready products.
