1974
Establishment and Genesis
The nucleus of electrotechnical research - Establishment under the name of Research, Design and Testing Center (CCPI) within the Electroputere Craiova Group. The initial mission was the technological support of the largest producer of electrical equipment in Romania. -
1990
Strategic Independence
A new identity as an autonomous institute ICMET separates from the industrial group and becomes an independent institution under the authority of the Ministry of Industry. This autonomy has allowed the opening of services to the international market and the diversification of research projects. -
1994
National Institute Status
Consolidation of the leadership role By Government Decision, the institute is reorganized as the National Institute for Research, Development and Testing for Electrotechnics. This reconfirmation underlines the importance of ICMET for the security of the national energy system. -
2014
Integration into European Research Networks
Innovation and global partnerships ICMET becomes an active participant in major European projects (EUREKA, COST, PHARE), focusing on intelligent monitoring systems (MON) and modern equipment for urban and railway traction. -
2024
Towards a Digital and Green Future
Excellence in the service of the European Green Deal Today, with a team of 120 experts, ICMET focuses on sustainable technologies, air quality monitoring and the digitalization of critical infrastructures, remaining the only center of competence of this profile in Southeastern Europe.
