Singularity in Romanian research

The only institution in Romania and Southeastern Europe specialized in evaluating the performance of high voltage and high current electrical equipment. A strategic pillar for the security of the national energy system.
Founded as vital support for the Romanian electrotechnical industry, ICMET has today become an international competence center, where innovation meets the absolute rigor of laboratory testing.

    Establishment and Genesis
    The nucleus of electrotechnical research - Establishment under the name of Research, Design and Testing Center (CCPI) within the Electroputere Craiova Group. The initial mission was the technological support of the largest producer of electrical equipment in Romania.
  • 1990

    Strategic Independence
    A new identity as an autonomous institute ICMET separates from the industrial group and becomes an independent institution under the authority of the Ministry of Industry. This autonomy has allowed the opening of services to the international market and the diversification of research projects.

    National Institute Status
    Consolidation of the leadership role By Government Decision, the institute is reorganized as the National Institute for Research, Development and Testing for Electrotechnics. This reconfirmation underlines the importance of ICMET for the security of the national energy system.

    Integration into European Research Networks
    Innovation and global partnerships ICMET becomes an active participant in major European projects (EUREKA, COST, PHARE), focusing on intelligent monitoring systems (MON) and modern equipment for urban and railway traction.

    Towards a Digital and Green Future
    Excellence in the service of the European Green Deal Today, with a team of 120 experts, ICMET focuses on sustainable technologies, air quality monitoring and the digitalization of critical infrastructures, remaining the only center of competence of this profile in Southeastern Europe.

ICMET Craiova is a national leader in the fields of

Research, development for monitoring and diagnosing electrical power equipment
Unconventional technologies that use the effect of vibration relaxation
Unconventional technologies that use the effect of compressed air at supersonic speed
It is the only manufacturer of force and mass transducers and equipment for heavy industrial regimes based on magnetoelastic tensometry, the result of its own research within the interdisciplinary group CERTENSM.

ICMET Craiova

It holds national metrological standards for the field of high forces (1 - 32 MN) and high voltages (alternating and direct current, lightning and switching impulses)
It has laboratories nationally accredited by RENAR for testing at: high voltage, high power, electromagnetic compatibility and low voltage.
Received from the Testing and Certification Institute - VDE Germany the certification of the qualification of the electromagnetic compatibility laboratory in the "Test Data Acceptance Program" in the field of EMC
It participates in international technical-scientific cooperation actions, establishing bilateral links with countries such as Greece, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, as well as relations at European level within international programs (COPERNICUS, COST, PHARE, EUREKA).
